Flying Alaska Airlines in July? Check the Seat Pocket.

Leisure camp-2When your iPad battery dies and you’ve finished your last book, the inflight magazine is usually the best option to waste time before your plane makes its final approach to the runway.

While I find most of the articles in these magazines to read like a Chamber of Commerce brochure of “X airline’s amazing destination,” you sometimes find a gem that goes beyond telling you where to eat and listen to live music.

Case in point: the July issue of Alaska Airlines Magazine, which features a lengthy spread on the allure and increased demand for second home buying of those approaching retirement. In addition to stories of recent buyers, Jessica Lautz, NAR director of survey research and communications, discusses some of the findings of NAR Research’s 2015 Vacation & Investment Homes survey.
